Khamzat Chimaev will undergo surgery, translating into months of rest for the fighter. Nonetheless, when he comes back in the UFC, “Borz” promises to “smash somebody.” And while it is still unknown when he will return, Chimaev is interested in joining the historic UFC 300 event next year.
Chimaev is currently suffering from a torn right-hand ligament after his fight against Kamaru Usman at UFC 294 in October. With this, the fighter will have to undergo surgery, which means he will be required to take some months of rest in order to complete his recovery. Nonetheless, the Russian knows he will deliver an impressive performance when he returns.
“I’m going to do a surgery, operation in one, two weeks,” Chimaev said in his recent Instagram Live post. “After that, do the recovery, come back, smash somebody.”
While he lost the chance to face middleweight champion Sean Strickland due to his injury, Chimaev seems hopeful about joining the UFC 300 event. When asked about it, the fighter told fans to “Tell Dana White (to) make that happen.”
