When WWE superstar Brock Lesnar crossed over to the sport of mixed martial arts, it brought a lot of attention. The legions of followers from the pro wrestling world were suddenly interested in MMA.

This led to a record-breaking UFC 100 pay-per-view haul. The 1.6 million buys remains the all-time record for a single UFC event. The appearance of Lesnar on the historic 2009 card is widely credited for the huge buy rate.

That said, after failing two drug tests for UFC 200, fans are looking at Lesnar in a different light now. Another pro wrestler attempting the cross over to combat sports is CM Punk, but it’s been a very delayed process.

Punk (real name Phillip Brooks) will try and replicate the success of Lesnar’s first UFC run. There’s a big difference between CM Punk and Brock Lesnar though; only one of them actually had a competitive background before pro wrestling, and it isn’t CM Punk.

Punk’s delayed start in the UFC has led to many jokes and trash talking from fellow fighters. Hi lack of actual combat experience means most fans, even casuals, are giving him slim-to-no chance of winning.
