UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway Slaps Down Floyd Mayweather’s UFC Claims…
Max Holloway has been one of the most vocal critics of Floyd Mayweather’s MMA dreams from the beginning. The Hawaiian has called out the media for focusing on the retired boxer instead of active and upcoming UFC stars. His voice has been the loudest of a few dissenters.
Mayweather has been linked to a crossover fight against Conor McGregor since he beat UFC lightweight champion in a boxing match last August. McGregor earned $100 million dollars, while Mayweather walked away with twice that figure. You can see why they’d be happy to do it all over again.
However, the 26-year-old UFC featherweight champion, whose last defeat was against McGregor, in 2013, has no time for these endless reports about a 41-year-old athlete with no MMA experience. He’s called a timeout on Mayweather and his training partner Tyron Woodley. ‘Blessed’ is simply not buying that this fight is going to happen.

Not Buying It
Holloway is on an incredible 12 fight win streak, including two wins over featherweight GOAT Jose Aldo. The Hawaiian is well placed to know what is real and what isn’t in the combats sports world. Mayweather recently told a TMZ reporter that he would rate his kicking skills a 4/10, while his wrestling skills are a 7/10 but could be pushed to a 9/10.
Holloway appeared on the MMA HOUR and was not impressed. He said:
“You guys really believe this guy is going to take an MMA fight, at however old he is right now, against a young guy that’s tough, who people consider one of the best in the sport? It just blows my mind man. If people believe that kind of stuff, it’s wild. I just don’t know what to say.”

PR Stunt
‘Blessed’ didn’t stop there. On a roll, his next target was the UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley. The American has claimed that he will train Mayweather for his UFC debut. Once again, Holloway was derisive. He told the MMA HOUR:
“Woodley’s the man. He’s a great dude, but I swear he talks about everything. He’s talking about everything. Whatever you can talk about, he talks about it. That guy is always on TMZ or something, so he wants to be talked about all the time, that’s it. Woodley, you are the man, brother, but I think it’s a PR stunt.”

Reporter Woodley?
Holloway still wasn’t finished. He continued his rant about Woodley and questioned ‘T-Wood’s’ commitment to MMA. He said:
“How can you not think it’s not a PR stunt? I don’t know. This guy is always – every time I see on Twitter something retweeting about TMZ, it’s Tyron Woodley talking about it. So it’s like gosh, is this guy a champion or a TMZ reporter? What is going on my friend?”
Meanwhile, Holloway himself is currently out with a leg injury. It meant he had to withdraw from a headline fight at UFC 222 against Frankie Edgar. After Brian Ortega and knocked ‘The Answer’ out in the first round, ‘Blessed’ has found himself a new and exciting No. 1 challenger.
