Heavyweight Fighter Disqualified After He Celebrates Win by Front-Flipping Onto His Opponent’s Back at LFA 36…

You might be surprised, but it is very rare that a fighter is actually disqualified in high-level mixed martial arts. There’s no doubt about it, MMA is a violent sport. However, most fighters have enough respect for the risk their opponents are taking by stepping into the cage with them. Usually, referees are the ones facing criticism for letting fighters take too much punishment.

However, sometimes you just get a moment of sheer insanity. We’ve seen Li Jiangliang stick his fingers in Jake Matthews’ eyes recently with the referee standing over him. He was lucky to get away with it. However, a couple of weeks later at UFC 22, in Las Vegas, Hector Lombard was disqualified after knocking out C.B Dolloway after the bell. DQs do happen.

Neither of these cases compares to the moment of lunacy that just took place at LFA 36 in California. It took place after Drew Chatman won bizarrely over Irvin Ayala and then decided to celebrate by front-flipping onto his opponent’s spine. It’s impossible to understand why he thought this was a good idea. He probably doesn’t know either.

Total Madness

The fight between Chatman and Ayala took place on the “post-lims,” after the main card. The two amateurs were fighting in the heavyweight division. Chatman took the win after Ayala somehow managed to knock himself out.

Ayala threw a hammer first on the ground but somehow smashed his chin into Chatman’s knee, leaving him unconscious. A weird way to win a fight, but Chatman wasn’t complaining. In fact, the moment made him too emotional. He decided to celebrate by standing on his opponent’s back and doing a front flip.

Instant DQ

Of course, Chatman was instantly disqualified. Can you imagine a heavyweight that on top of your spine? That’s at least 250lbs of human body mass smashing onto you. It was incredibly reckless of Chatman, not to mention disrespectful to his opponent. Ayala was lucky not to suffer any further injuries.

Chatman is likely to face a hefty ban for his moment of craziness. The video is going viral on the internet so that could further damage any hopes he had of pursuing a professional career. You can watch it yourself below.

Wild Night

It was a wild night for the LFA promotion. All of their fights ended in devastating fashion with the most high-profile being Ricky Simon’s title defense victory over Vinicius Zan. That first round KO can also be seen above. Regional MMA really serves up some weird, wild, and wacky moments. The full list of results from LFA 36 can be seen below:
