The main event Dos Anjos vs Felder was a 5 round banger. Both fighters gave it their all, and it was an entertaining fight through it all. In terms of the standup fight, it was somewhat an even match but RDA’s grappling proved to be too much for Felder. It was a huge factor for his win since Dos Anjos was preparing for a great wrestler Islam. It is also worth noting that the split decision gave a controversy to the decision since one judge gave it to Felder.
Paul Felder was preparing for a triathlon event and was just notified 5 days for the fight. He performed better than expected. Felder also indicated that it won’t be his last fight and will still have another fight. Meanwhile, Dos Anjos put his name on the hat for the lightweight title. Dos Anjos called out Conor Mcgregor, both of them are the only active fighters in the division who were former undisputed lightweight champions. RDA being in the mix of the lightweight division shows the talent stack in the division. Making the division one the most entertaining in the organization.
Probably the knockout of the night and a big upset win was Kalinn Williams’s fight against Abdul Razak Alhassan. The fight ended in just 30 seconds and with only a punch. Williams landed a perfect right straight counter that knocked Alhassan out cold. Williams was coming in as a +185 favorite. He also tried to call out EA Sports for his character to be playable in the next UFC game.
Ashley Yoder vs Miranda Granger was a more grappling based fight since Yoder showed good grappling offense. The striking was even but the grappling that Yoder used shown to be a huge factor in her victory. In the last minute of the fight, Yoder almost had a finish by getting Granger’s neck and choke it out. If the fight lasted 5 more seconds, it would have been a stoppage. Overall a good entertaining fight.
Sean Strickland successfully stopped Brendan Allen, in under 2nd round. Strickland showed high-level boxing skills that proved to be too much for Allen. Strickland also took this on short notice so becoming the underdog. Stickland also fought 2 weeks prior and has indicated that he still needs to work on his cardio.
In the main card opener, it featured Kay Hansen and Cory McKenna. It went a decision and went to Mckenna as the victor. All three judges scored the fight 29-28 in favor of McKenna
