UFC star Conor McGregor may not be champion anymore after UFC 223 but he is still the promotion’s biggest draw. With his latest Tweet, ‘The Notorious’ goes viral with just two words…
Coming up on April 7 is a fight that will decide the future of the UFC lightweight division. For over 12 months the division has been in turmoil. The champion crowned at UFC 205 was Conor McGregor, a moment that would prove both massive and costly for the promotion.
Winning a second title, having already won the featherweight belt, McGregor became the first champion to hold concurrent belts in UFC history. Unfortunately for MMA fans and the lightweight category, McGregor’s focus would then turn to Floyd Mayweather.
Although massive for boxing and MMA, the MayMac game did little for the UFC who would see tanking ratings in comparison to when the Irishman was around. Most recently, the UFC would see their lowest overnight ratings in FOX history.

Defend or Vacate
Tony Ferguson coined the phrase and at UFC 223 he and Khabib Nurmagomedov will fight for the belt McGregor held. McGregor’s return has been teased for later in the year as he continues to negotiate contract terms with the UFC.
Meanwhile, the Irishman is staying active on social media, picking on the other fighters at 145 and 155 pounds. His latest Tweet has been going nuts, especially considering it’s only two words:
Stay ready.

Khabib Answers McGregor
As he prepares to face Ferguson on April 7, ‘The Eagle’ has also been talking some trash online. This time, the undefeated wrestler replied to McGregor within moments of his ‘stay ready’ post.
Here’s what Khabib had to say:
Be ready stay on the line

UFC president Dana White remained optimistic that McGregor would, in fact, return this year, right around the two-year anniversary of his last MMA fight.
In an interview with the BBC, White had this to say:
“Hopefully we’ll see him back in either August or September. Well, we’ve got to see how things play out in that division. A lot of things are going to happen in the next several months in the 155-pound division. Coming up is going to be Tony Ferguson versus Khabib and the winner of that is who I would like to see Conor fight next.”

Sit Down Dana
While McGregor continues to troll Dana White, fans are left with no clear date for the Irish star’s comeback. One thing is certain, he won’t be the title holder if/when he does return to the UFC octagon.
