We got ourselves a guaranteed banger fight. Whenever Max Holloway fights, it pretty much fireworks simply because of his volume striking. No other active fighter is even close to Holloway’s work output. He just doesn’t stop throwing strikes, and in turn just makes his opponent crumble.
Oh boy. Here we go. Five round main event, July 17. Max Holloway (@BlessedMMA vs. Yair Rodriguez (@panteraufc), per Dana White. The self proclaimed best boxer in MMA returns. pic.twitter.com/qCKbC3YmM4

Holloway may not possess a knockout power or a one hit go to sleep type of power, but he always tries to dominate his opponent so much that makes them quit. His fight with Ortega, was one of the most one sided beat downs, although Ortega did not want to quit, his health was still the top priority.
Holloway’s fight against Kattar might be his best performance yet, he said so himself. It was after suffering back to back losses and Kattar was on a path for a title shot, but Holloway showed that there are levels to this.
As for Yair Rodriguez, he was once a hot prospect where many predicted he might have been the next champion. He had all those flashy moves and highlight reel knockouts but once he faced a great wrestler like Frankie Edgar, his confidence lowered. If he could avoid fighting a wrestler he would.

He was supposedly scheduled to fight Zabit Magomedsharipov but due to Zabit’s high-level wrestling, he keeps backing out. It is clear that Yair wants to fight strikers rather than wrestlers. He fought Chan Sung Jung and Jeremy Stephens which favored him a lot.
Props should be given to Holloway for taking the fight, he clearly deserves to fight for the title and could just wait it out but instead went on to fight as often as he can. One of the most unexpected fight announcements of the year.
