Here we go!

After years of sitting on the sidelines, former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre made his comeback official. Coming to an agreement with the UFC last month, ‘GSP’ confirmed he’d be back in the octagon in 2017.

Once that whole mess was cleared up, it was time to fight ‘Rush’ a fight. Having already fought many active fighters in the welterweight division, many fans believed St-Pierre would return to a rematch.

Who’ It Gonna Be?

With so many options available, just about everybody was being considered. From Conor McGregor to Anderson Silva, and everyone in between, there was a myriad of potential return fights.

Finally, just moments ago today, UFC president Dana White confirmed that GSP would compete for the UFC middleweight title against Michael Bisping. Unfortunately it looks like Yoel Romero will have to wait!

Wow…

Although Yoel Romero is currently the clear number one contender, it’s obvious that money is again a huge incentive here. Taking nothing away from GSP, but he’s been absent for more than three years now.

This is a great fight for Bisping, no doubt, but you can bet fans will be furious considering their recent reactions to ‘The Count.’

Here’s the announcement from UFC president Dana White, from LowKickMMA:

It’s Official

“He will fight Michael Bisping for the 185-pound title, and this Saturday obviously we have a fight for the welterweight title, which he held forever, we will have a press conference on Friday for him and Michael Bisping.”

“Well I’m not a big believer in long layoffs. Even Muhammad Ali after three years, a long layoff, didn’t look the same. But the Korean Zombie just came back and looked amazing after a three year layoff, so who knows. Georges St-Pierre is always in shape, takes care of himself physically so we’ll se what happens.”
