Two UFC fighters are facing drug issues now, with bantamweight fighter Miles Johns still on temporary suspension due to a failed drug test related to M3 metabolite. Meanwhile, Chad Hanekom, who fights under the UFC Contender Series, tested positive for cocaine, resulting in his suspension until June 5 next year.
Jonhs’ test was conducted in relation to his fight on September 23. Now, aside from his extended suspension, the fighter is expected to face a disciplinary hearing, which will likely be in December.
Johns tested positive for the M3 metabolite drug, which is found in Dehydrocloromethyltestosterone (DHCMT) or anabolic steroid. The Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) confirmed it during its monthly meeting on Tuesday.
Nonetheless, there could be some hope for Johns, with the possible changes in the drug testing thresholds in Nevada. This could cover M3 metabolite alongside other certain substances. How this will affect the case of Johns will be based on the M3 metabolite levels in his drug test.
Meanwhile, Chad Hanekom is facing a bigger issue after testing positive for cocaine at the UFC APEX on September 5. The fighter lost the bout, so it wouldn’t have an effect on it, but he would be suspended until June 5, 2024. Aside from this, he is fined a total of $900, which includes the prosecution fees.
