3. Nick Diaz
Nick Diaz likes to smoke weed, and he’s not going to stop because an athletic commission tells him to. There really is no reason for an athletic commission to even be testing for marijuana, but despite this the Nevada State Athletic Commission attempted to suspend Nick for a period of 5 years for repeated test failures.
After an appeals process the suspension was reduced to 18 months and a $100,000 fine.
Later Nick would tell the media he has no plans to quit smoking weed no matter how many suspensions or fines he receives, stating “If I’m going to train all day when I get done I’m going to want to smoke.”
As excessive as the commission was in this case, imagine what they are going to do the next time Nick fails a test.
