4. Brock Lesnar
Brock Lesnar was embarrassed by Cain Velasquez and Alistair Overeem in his last 2 fights in the UFC. One could even argue he was embarrassed by Shane Carwin in his 3rd previous fight as well.
Lesnar benefitted from a week heavyweight division when he first started with the UFC. The biggest names in the division at the time were Frank Mir and an aging Antonio Nogueira and Randy Couture. The division simply didn’t have the kind of large in-shape athletes that it does today, and Lesnar benefited greatly from that.
He also benefitted from the small roster size of the division, thus allowing for Lesnar to receive a title shot so soon after debuting. The UFC’s desire to tap into Brock’s popularity also didn’t hurt him any.
