2. Tank Abbott

Tank Abbott was scheduled to face Dan Severn in a March 2016 bout for the UR fight promotion but was unable to gain medical clearance, most likely because he is in his 50s and had never been in very good shape in the first place.  The promotion was following the Bellator model of trotting out old fighters that fans remember and putting them against each other, even if they are both old and might need to be rushed to hospital following the bout.

The worry about doing this with ageing fighters is that it will be hard for us to see our favourite fighters when they are no longer able to be competitive, but with Tank Abbott never could fight to begin with.  Abbott is one of the recognizable faces of the early days of the UFC, but he was never a good fighter.  Kimbo Slice knocked Tank out in 43 seconds in 2008.

Tank’s reputation is so far removed from his ability that it is perhaps unmatched in the history of sports.

Tank’s career record is just 10 wins and 15 losses.
