Predicting Aldo’s Call-Off
At the end of 2014, McGregor looked into his crystal ball and predicted that he’d get a title shot against featherweight champion Jose Aldo the following year, but that his opponent wouldn’t make it to the fight.
“If I’m being honest I can see a fight between myself and Jose being scheduled, and then I can see Jose pulling out,” McGregor stated.
Sure enough, following a TKO win over Dennis Siver the following month, McGregor was scheduled to fight Aldo at UFC 189 in July, only for the Brazilian star to then pull out a few weeks prior to the event.
McGregor would go on to face late replacement Chad Mendes instead with the winner then expected to fight Aldo later that year.
