Despite losing in her flyweight debut, Rose Namajunas will be staying in the division. In line with this, the fighter will reportedly come back in the cage on March 23 at UFC Fight Night to face her second flyweight opponent, Amanda Ribas.
Former two-time UFC strawweight champ Namajunas lost her belt to Carla Esparza at UFC 274 and decided to move to the flyweight. In her debut, she was welcomed by Manon Fiorot but lost via a unanimous decision. Nonetheless, despite being the kryptonite of current strawweight champ Zhang Weili, whom she defeated twice, Namajunas has no intention of going back to her former class weight.
According to the initial report from MMA HOJE, Namajunas will continue fighting under flyweight. In line with this, “Thug” will reportedly be at UFC Fight Night in a main event in March, facing Ribas as her next flyweight opponent. The promotion still hasn’t confirmed the bout, but reports citing sources already corroborated the claims. Her manager, Brian Butler, also confirmed in a recent interview that the fighter will indeed return in the first half of this year.
If true, Namajunas will be entering the cage with a two-fight losing skid. She will be facing a tough opponent in Ribas, who made a TKO win over Luana Pinheiro at UFC Fight Night 232 in November.
