6. vs. Melvin Guillard Ultimate Fight Night 19
The main event for UFN 19 was Melvin “the Young Assassin” Guillard vs Nate Diaz. This was an important fight for Nate. After winning season 5 of the Ultimate Fighter he went on a 4 fight winning streak. To start 2009 however, Nate dropped his first two fights to Clay Guida and Joe Stevenson. Both were decision losses, both won fight of the night.
A third loss in a row would drop Nate even further out of the title equation. Guillard was coming off of 2 wins in a row, including a knockout of the night award over Dennis Siver in 36 seconds.
After a fast paced and bloody round and a half, Nate tapped him in the 2nd with a guillotine.
