Conor McGregor and a Teammate Have Been Formally Charged By the NYPD and it’s Not Looking Good…
The McGregor case is intensifying. Conor McGregor has been charged by the New York Police Department for his leading role in the scandalous attack outside Brooklyn’s Barclay Center last night. The Irishman has been held in custody overnight after turning himself into police.
It’s believed that an altercation between McGregor’s teammate Artem Lobov and his Russian compatriot Khabib Nurmagamedov was the main cause of the attack. The ‘Eagle’ is fighting Max Holloway on Saturday for McGregor’s lightweight title. Lobov was also due to fight that night, however, he has since been pulled for his role last night.
McGregor is being held in the 78th Precinct in Brooklyn and his charges have finally been announced. His teammate and fellow Dubliner, Cian Cowley is also being held. The Irishmen are expected to go before a judge at some point on Friday where they will await sentencing.

Charged
The charges that the men face are very serious. McGregor has been hit with three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief. Meanwhile, Cowley is being charged with one count of assault, as well as one count of criminal mischief.
Both of these carry jail time in the United States. However, even if the charges are dropped, McGregor will be hit with multiple lawsuits. When he threw a dolly at the bus carrying fighters from the arena back to the hotel, glass shattered and cut Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg. Both of these men have had to withdraw from Saturday’s event.
“You can imagine that he would be sued beyond belief,” Dana White said. “That was a really bad career move from him.”

Unexpected
The lunacy of events last night took the UFC and the stadium security by surprise. Conor McGregor was not even believed to have been in the country at the time, with most expecting him to arrive on Saturday morning to attend the event.
According to White, members of the Mac Life media group let the Irishman and his group of thugs into the venue, where they proceeded to unleash chaos. None of his group will be allowed anywhere near anything to do with UFC 223 after this point.

Embarrassing
It is expected that the UFC will inflict severe consequences on Conor McGregor and Artem Lobov for the disgraceful display last night. Both fighters brought the company into disrepute and may never fight for them again. McGregor’s worse case scenario is that this court date will prevent him from getting a work visa in the United States.
The backlash against the Irishman has been widespread. Media in Ireland has effectively disowned him for his embarrassing behavior. No statement has been made yet by McGregor’s head coach John Kavanagh who was in Budapest, Hungary at the time.
Although some sources, including Dana White, have brought up the possibility that McGregor was under the influence of illegal drugs, there is no confirmation of anything like that at this time. Such matters will remain speculation until his appearance in the courtroom later on Friday.
