PFL is making a huge change in its women’s division this year, targeting the women’s featherweight division. According to PFL CEO Peter Murray, the promotion will now replace the said class weight in its league season format with the women’s flyweight division.

The news is not entirely surprising as the company mentioned the move before. With the decision appearing final now, it will join the current men’s divisions in league format (although other changes are also expected), including featherweight, lightweight, welterweight, light heavyweight, and heavyweight.

The announcement will affect Larissa Pacheco and Cris Cyborg, who are two of the biggest featherweight names in the company. Nonetheless, Murray said that the company plans to put the said athletes in the events outside its season while the Bellator will keep its women’s featherweight.

Alongside this change, the executive shared that it will start using the Bellator talents it acquired when it bought the company in November. According to Murray, 50% of the company’s 2024 league season roster will be filled with Bellator fighters. Europe’s 2023 PFL winner, Dakota Ditcheva, is currently the only name in the 2024 women’s flyweight season, but the company is expected to announce more soon.
