Khabib Nurmagamedov is Clearly on Edge After Conor McGregor Tweets and Deletes… Now the UFC Has Given Him Extra Security in Calgary, Canada…
Folks, it’s all set to kick off tonight. Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagamedov’s rivalry is heating up and the duo look set to sign a deal to fight this coming October in Las Vegas. Nurmagamedov is in Calgary, Canada, for tonight’s UFC event. There’s a lot of speculation – enhanced by a McGregor tweet – that the pair will face off tonight.
After McGregor pleaded guilty to one count of disorderly conduct, he was hit with five days community service, anger management classes, told to pay for the damage he caused, and ordered to keep away from Ray Borg and Michael Chiesa until next year.
He’s happy to do all of that and now it’s looking like it’s all going to go crazy. McGregor tweeted and deleted the post that we’ve secured a screenshot of below. See what you think about this cryptic message.
Does this mean he’s going to be in Calgary tonight? Okay yeah, he probably hit a typo, because he wrote Cavalry instead of Calgary, but that’s hardly why he deleted this message. The eagle-eyed fan will have spotted it.
Let’s hope the Scotiabank Saddledome is ready for the carnage that is surely going to unfold if this pair gets in each other’s faces. Guys please just sign the contract already. The fans need this fight almost as badly as the UFC does.
If you don’t think the UFC is taking this seriously, then you’re mistaken. Khabib has been given extra security by the promotion because they really don’t want another chaotic mess to unfold. In the footage above, taken by champ-champ Daniel Cormier, the Russian is seen laughing as his team chill around him.
“I never thought I’d see the day that this dude needed security,” Cormier says. “Look at that. This guy is scared? You scared McGregor coming? You scared McGregor coming?”
While DC is just kidding with his AKA teammate, the extra security given to the Eagle is absolutely real. McGregor seems to be coming for his lightweight title and he’s ready to put on a show in the meantime.
Khabib said UFC gave him extra security because they thought McGregor would be coming to Calgary. Re: Conor’s tweet: “Why you need calvary? … Just send me location.”

Any potential fight between McGregor and Khabib will be a classic battle between striker and grappler. Fans and analysts are divided about who they think will win. Nurmagamedov is 26-0, which is absolutely phenomenal in MMA. His oppressive top-game is seen as McGregor’s worst nightmare.
However, McGregor has without question faced a higher standard of opponent. While Khabib beat Al Iaquinta to win the belt, the Notorious has inflicted devastating defeats on Jose Aldo and Eddie Alvarez. Many believe that if he connects with Khabib’s chin – which is often held high – the Russian is going to sleep.
Nurmagamedov has experienced the absolute cauldron of intensity that is a McGregor event. That’s not saying he can’t handle it – only time will tell. But we’ve seen fighters psychologically broken before they even step into the cage against the Irishman, and gameplans thrown out the window. Should Khabib be the favorite? Yes. Is this a foregone conclusion? Definitely not.
