Ali Abdelaziz is in trouble after assaulting a fellow manager at PFL 7…
Dominance MMA manager Ali Abdelaziz is in the spotlight again for all the wrong reasons. The Egyptian currently manages a host of UFC fighters, including champions Khabib Nurmagamedov, Henry Cejudo and Kamaru Usman. However, Abdelaziz is a toxic character.
The manager has a controversial relationship with the PFL. A disproportionate number of his clients are members of the roster. This has led to many questions in the past. Furthermore, he’s been involved in a number of altercations at PFL events. Despite video footage emerging that shows Abdelaziz physically assaulting people, no charges have been pressed. That looks set to change.
Abdelaziz allegedly struck his fellow manager Ibrahim Kawa. Kawa represents the likes of Anthony Pettis, Jon Jones, Tyron Woodley and Demetrious Johnson. He intends to press charges against Abedelaziz and police are investigating the incident.
Shameless
The incident was first reported by ESPN. Kawa stated that Abdelaziz sucker-punched him. Anthony Pettis backed up his manager. He said that Abdelaziz slapped Kawa “like a b—-” and “was gone in 15 seconds.” Of course, he did. The former champion was furious However, his friends held him back.
You would expect Abdelaziz to lay low because of his associations to Chechnyan dictator Ramzan Kadyrov, but no, the man has no shame.
Troublemaker
This isn’t the first time that Abdelaziz has got into trouble at a PFL event. Abdelaziz and Kamaru Usman brawled with the crowd at PFL 1. Usman alleged that they were responding to racism and bad behaviour from members of the audience. There was footage of Abdelaziz throwing punches.
Just two weeks later, at PFL 2, another incident allegedly occurred involving Abdelaziz. This time the Egyptian and his fellow Dominance MMA manager Rivzan Magomedov broke into the hotel room of an alleged fellow manager. Then they allegedly battered and threatened that individual. However, the PFL took no action against Abdelaziz. Nor did he face any charges.
But Kawa has pressed charges. Abdelaziz is facing a count of battery after the alleged attack which took place in the Mandalay Bay Casino, Las Vegas.
Police Report
LVMPD confirmed that they arrested Abdelaziz at the scene. According to Kawa, Abdelaziz “struck him in the face with a closed fist on the right side of his face for no reason.” The police statement backed this up. They evaluated the arrest with the below statement.
“LVMPD officers were on scene and temporarily detained one of the subjects during the investigation… That subject was cooperative. He was issued a citation and released. No enforcement action was taken regarding the second subject, who was also cooperative. There were no significant injuries.”
The irony of the situation is that Abdelaziz is the first man to go after Conor McGregor. We’re not saying he doesn’t have a point, but it’s incredibly hypocritical to preach what you don’t sow. Incredibly, the incident appears to have taken place directly in front of the police at the Mandalay Bay Casino. To be honest, that’s just dumb.
