He’s one of the greatest fighters of all-time. Georges St-Pierre’s name still carries a legendary mysticism and no wonder. To sum up, he’s the most successful UFC welterweight ever. Then he came back after a four-year hiatus to win the middleweight title. ‘Rush’ is one of the best in the business.
Now the 38-year-old is officially retired. He’s said that he’s not interested in fighting unless it enhances his legacy. There’s only one fight that appeals to him and that’s against Khabib Nurmagamedov. ‘The Eagle’ is one of the most feared and brutal fighters on the roster. Both men want to fight but the UFC has prevented it so far.
However, Dana White’s stance has softened recently. Meanwhile, St-Pierre has confirmed that he’s definitely still up for it, either at lightweight or at a catchweight. This is definitely a fight that would bring in big numbers. Will it happen in 2020 before it’s too late?

ESPN asked Georges St-Pierre if he would come back for the right fight. The Canadian was adamant in his response. If Khabib Nurmagamedov is available to fight, then Rush is on that all day. That’s easier said than done. But this is definitely one of the most exciting fights for the Russian if it could be made.
“If the right fight came along, they know where to find me,” St-Pierre told ESPN. “We tried to make the right fight but it didn’t work. If everything is aligned contractually, everything is good, as we speak now, yes I would.”

Deserving
However, Khabib has other ideas. He doesn’t want to hang about in negotiations. First of all, he’s planning on fighting in spring of 2020. Tony Ferguson looks likely to be his opponent. That’s the fight that should happen, as El Cucuy is on a longer winning streak in the division than Khabib. ‘The Eagle’ told RT Sport:
“It will be in March or April. I said it clearly – I want to fight in a large arena, and the only large indoor arena in Russia is Gazprom Arena (in St. Petersburg) … I have to say that Tony Ferguson deserves it more. You have to give him credit. He is on a 12-fight win streak and he deserves it more than Conor.
Get in Line
Meanwhile, Khabib has very little time for Conor McGregor right now. He’s told the Irishman to get back in line. McGregor could return in 2020 too. However, right now that’s all up in the air. He’s dealing with multiple lawsuits, including one for the assault of a man in his fifties. Meanwhile, his name has been linked to a second sexual assault case in Ireland. Khabib said:
“Conor has to come back (and) stop hitting old people. He is a professional fighter. He should come back, win, earn his place and get in line.”
