‘The Gorilla’ Has Allegedly Been Arrested in Tenerife for Allegedly Trashing a Hotel Room With His Mates… Oh and Stealing a Taxi…
This time last year, it seemed like it was Darren Till’s world and we were all just living in it. At lost has changed since then. Back to back defeats have seen the Scouser slip out of title contention. First of all, he was totally dominated by Tyron Woodley, and then he was ruthlessly KOed in front of a London crowd by Jorge Masvidal.
So you might think the time is right for Till to take a deep breath and engage in some quiet reflection. Maybe consider moving up to middleweight and avoid the brutal cut down to 170. Or perhaps think about bringing in a couple of fresh faces into his camp to freshen up his preparation.
On the other hand, you might be in the camp that guessed Till decided to allegedly rob a taxi and trash a hotel room with his mates. If you did predict this then well done. According to reports in Spain, you’re absolutely right.
Allegedly, Till was away on a lad’s holiday in Tenerife, the largest of Spain’s Canary Islands. These islands are some of the most popular getaways for Northern European tourists because they’re guaranteed sunshine all year around. According to reports from Spain’s El Dia newspaper, ‘The Gorilla’ and his gang were kicked out of one hotel for breaking furniture and emptying the fire extinguishers.
Then after going to another hotel, they were swiftly told that they were not welcome. That’s when they decided to steal a cab.
It’s alleged that while the cab driver was loading their suitcases back into the vehicle, Till and his crew thought that it was a smart idea to leap into the car and drive away. Of course, the poor dude wasn’t very happy with this and the national police were called to deal with the situation.
They were reportedly arrested early on Thursday morning, local time in the Costa Adeje side of the island. The Spanish police are not known for their light approach with such incidents so you can bet that the lads are feeling the worse for wear today. As of yet, it is unknown what charges they could face.
Till is an immensely popular fighter in his native England and was given a furious push by the UFC after beating Donald Cerrone. Basically, they saw him as a direct replacement for the now-retired Michael Bisping and hoped that he would be the next British UFC champion.
So far it’s not been all smooth sailing for the brash Liverpudlian. While he has a very talented striker, his ground game is questionable. He’s also facing accusations of a glass chin after getting obliterated by Masvidal, despite dominating most of the fight before this.
He’s got a lot of questions to answer and a career to get back on track. The biggest challenge of his life so far was getting stabbed in Liverpool. He almost died and responded by upping sticks and moving to Brazil to train. Maybe it’s time for him to do something drastic like that again.
