Hopefully this suspect is brought to justice…
Tragic news broke yesterday (Sunday June 6, 2016) of the passing of professional mixed martial artist Ryan Jimmo. The UFC veteran and former MFC light-heavyweight champion was reportedly killed following a traffic incident in Edmonton, Alberta Canada.
The 34-year old Canadian was allegedly involved in a traffic dispute, where only words were exchanged before the harrowing incident. Jimmo was headed back to his own vehicle when the other driver ran him down, fleeing the scene like a coward.
The crime took place in the morning hours of Sunday June 26, and by mid afternoon it was realised that Jimo had died in hospital, and no one had handed themselves in over the incident.
The suspect is still at large, and the Edmonton Police have released the following statement, and the image below is the scene of the crime:
The Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section is asking for the public’s help locating a vehicle involved in a hit and run collision that left a man dead early this morning.
Police responded to a parking lot in the area of Whyte Avenue and 101 Street at approximately 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, June 26, 2016.
It is reported there was a brief verbal altercation between the drivers of two separate vehicles. The driver of one vehicle, a 34-year-old man, approached the occupants of the second vehicle on foot. As he was walking back to his vehicle, it is alleged the suspect vehicle accelerated, struck the man and fled the area.
The man who was struck was treated and transported to hospital where he was declared deceased.
The suspect vehicle was last seen travelling eastbound on Whyte Avenue near 99 Street. Police believe the vehicle was occupied by at least two Caucasian males.
Officers from Homicide Section are asking the public to contact the EPS with information about this vehicle. It is described as a dark-coloured, older model pickup truck with an extended cab, and customized with a lift kit, oversized tires and clear tail lights.
Investigators are also looking to speak with the driver of a red car that was nearly struck by the suspect vehicle as the pickup truck travelled eastbound in the westbound lanes of Whyte Avenue shortly after the collision.
Anyone who has information about this vehicle or incident is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.tipsubmit.com/start.htm.
