Is this the news coach Edmond has been dreading?
After getting knocked out by Holly Holm at UFC 193, it was clear that Ronda Rousey needed a change. Having previously dominated the UFC’s 135-pound division, ‘Rowdy’ suddenly found herself on the fringes.
Before the Holm loss, Rousey was undefeated. Once she’d relinquished the title, Rousey’s training methods came in to question. Putting her coach, Edmond Tarverdyan, in the spotlight, the answer was not good.
Heavily Criticised
Facing a backlash from the fans because of her outlandish persona before the Holm fight, ‘Rowdy’ went in to hiding. Tarverdyan’s credentials were dragged across the coals, and one aspect, more than any other, the boxing, was focused on.
Apparently lacking the basic fundamentals of striking, Rousey’s coach seemed to be teaching his student how to get knocked out. She’d made it this far, undefeated before the Holm fight, but coach Edmond and many other fuelled the fire of Rousey’s misled confidence in her stand up.
Then came UFC 207…
Fear The Return? Nope…
After more than a year away from the octagon, with no contact with the media, Rousey returned amid a shroud of silence. Sadly for her fans, with Edmond still teaching his ‘dynamic’ striking methods, ‘Rowdy’ got squashed.
Amanda Nunes retained her belt, and once again people wondered why Rousey was still with Edmond. News broke this week that Rousey had hired a new coach, and here’s what we know about him so far:

What About Edmond?
Although reports indicated that Travis Browne, Ronda’s boyfriend, had left Glendale and coach Edmond, that turned out to be false. ‘Hapa’ continued to train with Edmond, and was subsequently destroyed by Derrick Lewis.
Wondering if ‘Rowdy’ will finally leave coach Edmond? Well, until we here that she’s hired a new striking coach, we’ll have to assume she’s still at Glendale, for now.
While it doesn’t to have a good punch when you see an opening , you should always go with your strengths and what got you there.
