Wow, details here…
There’s been a lot of talk recently about boxers crossing over to mixed martial arts and vice versa. Of course we are referring to the madness surrounding UFC featherweight champ Conor McGregor and boxing great Floyd Mayweather. But what about Muay Thai?
People tend to forget that many top level martial artists are former Muay Thai champions. Perhaps it’s just because they don’t make headline rumours like Mayweather and McGregor, but these fighters are legit.
UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk is one of many Muay Thai to MMA crossovers. She is a multiple time Thai boxing champ, and is currently undefeated in her MMA career.
So what about Suphachai Saenpong? Yes, Saenchai as he is more commonly known, has been teasing a debut in mixed martial arts for some time now.
Saenchai famously called out Conor McGregor back when the featherweight champion was undefeated. He claimed his Muay Thai kicks could defeat the Irishman in any arena of combat.
Saenchai has made his name as one of the greatest Muay Thai fighters of all time. He is revered in Thailand, and this most recent announcement further fuels the flames of a future in mixed martial arts for Saenchai.
