Michael Bisping has been in the UFC since winning the Ultimate Fighter in 2006. A perennial contender, Bisping has waited over ten years for a chance to compete for the title. Unfortunately for the British born fighter, Bisping’s chance has finally come on short notice against the last man to defeat him.
Many believed that Bisping would go down as the greatest figther of all time to not challenge for a title but after an impressive victory over former long time Champion Anderson Silva in London in February, many believed he had finally done enough to warrant a crack.
Originally scheduled to face Chris Weidman at UFC 199, Luke Rockhold will now be defending his title for the first time against Bisping, after Weidman was forced out of the bout with a serious neck injury. A short notice opponent is never ideal but Rockhold will be confident after dismantling the Brit the last time the pair met in 2014.
