UFC lightweight/welterweight Sage Northcutt has been unavailable for comment since his shock submission loss this past weekend, but now he has a message for the fans….
UFC on FOX 18 went down on Saturday January 30, and featured a host of exciting and influential fights. The main event saw Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson cement himself as the number one light-heavyweight contender, as he blasted Ryan Bader with ease in round one.
Johnson put Bader to sleep with the first barrage of punches he landed, which came after a very brief scramble on the mat. The knockout in the headline fight wasn’t the biggest result to come out of the card in New Jersey though, that came from Sage Northcutt’s third UFC fight.
‘Super Sage’ faced the relatively unknown Bryan Barberena on the evening’s main card, in a weight class above his normal lightweight home. ‘Bam Bam’ was also fighting for the third time in the UFC, having gone 1-1 in his career so far.
The stage was set for Sage to continue his meteoric rise through the UFC, an ascendancy that had been criticized by fighters and fans alike since day one. What transpired in Newark this past Saturday was highly unexpected.
Surviving a dicey round one where he was dropped a couple times, Barberena rallied in round two for an upset victory. Finishing Sage Northcutt with an arm triangle from half guard, ‘Bam Bam’ shook the oddsmaker’s underdog status to get a big win.
Then came the reaction from fighters like Tony Ferguson, who had the following to say:
Woo!!! Tapped like a little Bitch & Tried to tel the Ref Different!! @sagenorthcutt VonFlu/Got You @bryan_barberena pic.twitter.com/xO4jNshOtq

The baclash from the fans wasn’t much better, as a stream of hurtful memes and comments came in to play. So how about Northcutt’s reaction?
