Randy Couture
Randy Couture and Dana White do not like each other.
Most recently Couture has been lobbying Washington to extend the “Muhammad Ali Boxing Act” to apply to MMA. The act prevents promoters from handing out title shots to the most marketable fighter and requires fighters to be compensated fairly. Needless to say this would have a negative impact on the UFC’s bottom line, though it could be beneficial for the sport in the long run.
White and Couture were involved in a legal battle in 2007-08 over Couture’s desire to fight for a rival promotion against Fedor Emelianenko. Couture’s team believed his contract with the UFC to be over, but Dana disagreed. After a long legal battle, the UFC won and the fight against Fedor never happened. Since then the two sides have been at odds over numerous things.
When Couture signed with Bellator as an ambassador, White prevented him from cornering his son Ryan’s UFC fights.
“I don’t respect him at all,” White said regarding Randy. “Not even a little bit. Randy Couture, the only time Randy Couture is a man is when he sets foot in the cage. As soon as his big toe steps out of that cage, he’s the furthest thing from it. That’s it, that’s the way I feel about it.”
