5. The Ali Act
The Ali Act could potentially be a great thing for fighters and the sport of MMA. It could also potentially kill the whole thing. We won’t know until it happens, and only if it happens.
This is a 17-year old piece of boxing legislation that gives the federal government of the United States jurisdiction to put regulations in place for all bouts within the country. Currently fighters like Randy Couture are lobbying Washington to extend this legislation to cover MMA as well as boxing.
Among these regulations would be that title fights would be based on an independent ranking system, therefore preventing guys from receiving championship opportunities based on how marketable they are. If you are an MMA purist, this is something you have been dreaming of.
The act would also force promotions to reveal financial information, something the UFC is not a big fan of.
While much of what could happen to the UFC if the Ali Act gets extended to MMA would be positive, it might greatly hurt WME-IMG’s bottom-line.

I don’t agree I think 2017 is wen we will see what they plan for the future an the way the ufc is putting their events in as many different countries as they are I can see the idea of maybe agreeing with u on the too many different champs an as a way of countering that I see them after establishing all the top fighters from all the globes corners an having a once yearly super tournament where whicheva country chosen to hold it an all the best come together to compete against the best of each other so there will be the one true champion of his weight division, atm they seem to be going around signing a range of different fighters but in fairness they all seem to be the top few guys/ladies from each fighters region
The Ali Act would be AMAZING! But the UFC will be piiiiiiiissed, it will mess them up, they never really worked with merits, if the Ali act had been around for a while, McGregor wouldn’t have gotten a title fight, Ronda would never have held a belt, Sonnen would never get big fights…
