Gegard Mousasi has been calling out Anderson Silva all year, and he did it again after beating Vitor Belfort in England. This fight actually makes a lot of sense for both guys. Anderson Silva is most likely laying in wait in case Souza, Rockhold, Weidman or Romero go down in any of their upcoming fights. But assuming none of the big 4 contenders in the middleweight division go down, he’s going to need to fight someone soon, and the Mousasi fight makes sense.
If the rumour that negotiations are underway for a GSP vs. Silva bout are true, but the deal falls through, then Silva vs. Mousasi is your significantly not as good replacement fight.
If this fight happens look for Mousasi to push the pace, something Silva spent his whole career wishing his opponents would do more of. Unfortunately now at 41-years old, it will work against Silva when his opponents are the ones dictating and being aggressive. Silva will tire out and eventually get knocked out.
