Who? You mean there was a flyweight champion before Valentina Shevchenko? Nicco Montano’s time as a UFC champion is about as memorable as her personality. She ground out a solid victory over fan-favorite Roxanne Modareffi and that was as good as it got for the first Native American to hold a UFC title.
Montano then went on to annoy everyone by ducking Valentina Shevchenko. We don’t blame her for not wanting to fight ‘Bullet,’ who fights like she was raised in a secret Soviet facility. But if you’re a champion, you have to defend or vacate. In the end, she got stripped and we’ve only seen her fight once since then. Nobody misses her.
