Khabib Nurmagamedov’s Manager Insists That Georges St. Pierre Will Definitely Be Their Next Fight… Sorry Tony Ferguson… Look Away Now…

This won’t make easy reading for Tony Ferguson fans, but it looks like Team Khabib are pushing for the GSP fight. Ali Abdelaziz, Khabib’s manager and pet snake, has insisted that a fight with the Canadian legend is on the cards so that Khabib can enhance his legacy.

Khabib is coming off the back of an impressive victory over Dustin Poirier, who he beat by rear-naked choke at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi. It was a great win for the champ and he showed his ability to battle through adversity, as he managed to escape from a tight guillotine attempt from ‘The Diamond.’

Now he’s thinking about his next opponent. While most diehard fans want him to fight Tony Ferguson, all the word coming from Khabib’s camp is that GSP is on the horizon.

No One Cares

While Ali Abdelaziz is one of the most annoying figures in MMA, he’s also certainly one of the most powerful. He represents three champions, including Henry Cejudo and Kamaru Usman, as well as Khabib. He might also have a point about Tony Ferguson’s lack of stardust. Sadly, it could cost ‘El Cucuy if a GSP fight genuinely opens up.

“Nobody really cares about what Tony says,” Abdelaziz said, per Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie. “Nobody gives a (expletive) really. As far as I know, GSP is next. That is what I want. Tony doesn’t get what he wants. We get what Khabib wants, and if Khabib calls me and says he wants Georges St-Pierre, Georges St-Pierre will be next.”

Huge Fight

To be honest, a Georges St. Pierre fight would be a fair compromise. While Ferguson is totally deserving, GSP is seen by many as the man who would beat Khabib. Furthermore, it would be a clash between two generations of MMA. Therefore it would certainly be one of the biggest fights of all time.

“Georges is my friend for 10 years, and I know Georges wants to fight Khabib,” he continued. “If you’re going to compare Tony Ferguson, he beat a whole bunch of guys, but he never been a champion. I’m talking about if Khabib is going to fight for legacy, a fight with Georges St-Pierre will be a huge fight. Dana White is a business man. That’s why he’s the best promoter of all time. I think him and Georges St-Pierre make a lot more money and more headlines. People will care more. It’s a fight for who is the greatest of all time.”

Sorry Conor

If you’re Conor McGregor though, you definitely won’t be happy with what Abdelaziz had to say. The divisive manager emphatically ended the Irishman’s chances of a rematch because of his lack of activity. McGregor hasn’t fought since losing to Khabib, so as far as the Russian’s team is concerned, he’s out of the picture.

“Conor is like a sour ex-girlfriend; she can’t get anybody else,” Abdelaziz said. “This is what Conor is. He’s irrelevant, and you heard what Justin Gaethje said. He’s not a good person. The train has left him.”

Will we finally get Khabib v Tony Ferguson, or is Georges St. Pierre going to be the man who steps in to take the fight? Only time will tell, but as we found out with McGregor v Mayweather, if you keep talking then things will happen.
