Tom Aspinall is back with another tirade targeting UFC’s decision to continuously push the Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic. After lambasting “Bones” in his earlier sentiments, the Briton now has his focus on Miocic. The veteran, however, chose to respond in a short yet mature way, promising the young fighter a fight after winning the belt.
Aspinall has always been very vocal about his intention to fight Jones. The promotion giant, however, is determined to have the bout. The British made an earlier plea to the UFC to strip Jones of the title or give him the chance to fight Miocic, but CEO Dana White said it “ain’t happening.”
In line with this, Aspinall has voiced another wave of criticism to convince the company why he deserves the fight against Jones instead of Miocic.
In his series of posts, the 30-year-old shared being “upset” over the fact that Miocic, who he noted had his last win in August 2020, would have the chance to fight Jones instead of him, who is the interim champ of the division. In the end, the fighter underscored if “legend” Miocic should be given such an opportunity, the company might as well give the same shot to Tony Ferguson despite having a seven-fight losing skid.
I have never caused a delay in the Jon fight.⁰⁰Tom, once I get this win, let’s talk to unify the belt.

Surprisingly, Miocic, who is usually silent on social media, directly commented on one of Aspinall’s posts. And instead of countering it with some spicy words, the veteran fighter simply explained to Aspinall that the postponement of his earlier fight schedule with Jones was not his fault. Additionally, despite being rumored to be retiring after the said fight, Miocic promised fellow UFC talent a battle after getting the belt.
While this should sound reassuring for Aspinall, a fight with Jones remains murky. Aside from White’s decision not to give Miocic’s place to him, earlier reports claim that Jones will retire after the bout. As such, it is likely that the Briton will never get his “dream fight” against the legend regardless of what result the Jones vs. Miocic will bring.
