Most people in Australia know and understand the benefits of sports for their physical health, but many do not think about the other benefits of mental health. You should have noticed by now that after a game of football or rugby, for example, you feel fantastic inside even though your body is incredibly tired. This is because of all of the endorphins that your body is releasing, and these help to make you feel amazing in both mind and body. If your mental health has been suffering recently, then one of the first things that you need to do is to get your running shoes on and get out there and do some physical activity.
You can’t keep relying on your vibrators to keep you in good shape, and while you do burn a lot of calories in the bedroom, you could burn a lot more if you would just take up some kind of sport. If you need a little bit more convincing and you are not yet sold on the idea that exercise can also make you feel good then the following are just some of the mental benefits.
- It certainly improves your mood – There is no doubt that the toys that you have in your bedroom definitely improve your mood every single time but playing sports or even just going for a quick walk can release all of the good chemicals in your brain that make you feel much happier about yourself, and you will feel much more relaxed. Team sports are especially good because you get to release all of the stress and anxiety that you have been carrying around all week.
- It reduces stress & depression levels – Almost all of us suffer from some kind of stress or depression in our daily lives, and we need something that is going to distract us from them. Getting yourself active by taking part in sports is one way to get all of those negative thoughts out of your brain so that only positive ones exist. You will become a glass-half-full type of person, and this is incredibly good for your mental health.
- It helps maintain your weight – Many Australians notice that it is so easy to put weight on, and it takes absolutely no effort at all except putting lots of food into our mouths. On the other side of the coin, it is so incredibly difficult to burn off this excess weight and so this is when sport comes to your rescue. Not only will you feel better physically, but it will help your mental health as well, and hopefully, this will keep you out of the fridge in the evenings.
It is easy to see then that exercise isn’t just for your physical health but it is for your overall mental health as well. You need a much-needed boost to your confidence and taking part in any sports can provide you with that in spades.
