Tony Ferguson Ready to Hand Conor McGregor Brutal Beating

Tony Ferguson and Conor McGregor are two of the most exciting fighters in the UFC lightweight division today. ‘El Cucuy’ is currently on the sidelines after losing to Justin Gaethje in a tough one-sided bout. This effectively ended any hope he had of fighting Khabib Nurmagamedov in the near future.

Meanwhile, McGregor confirmed his retirement earlier this summer after failing to agree fight terms with the UFC. We all know his retirement isn’t real or binding, because he’s still in the USADA testing pool and he’s pulled this same stunt several times before.

‘El Cucuy’ made it clear that he is very willing to fight the Irishman. ‘The Notorious’ stirred on the pot on Twitter with two words that got all of his fans excited. Will we see him return this year? And who do you think would win a clash between these two men?

Openminded

Fergusons has a few ideas about his next opponent. He mentioned both McGregor and Dustin Poirier as his two most likely potential opponents. Furthermore, he doesn’t think that McGregor’s southpaw status would affect him. That remains to be seen but both match-ups make sense.

“You want to give me Conor, give me Conor,” he said. “You want to give me Poirier, we’ll make it happen and then we’ll fight and then we’ll fight the winner of the Gaethje and Khabib fight.”

“They’re both decent fighters. They’re both good. We’re all elite in the top five for a reason. As far as fights go, if Conor wants to fight, I’m down for that. I’d love to fight a southpaw. I do really well, I knocked out Aaron Riley’s jaw on accident. When it comes down to fighting standup, you’ve got to remember when I fought Edson Barboza. It’s a lot different.”

I Accept

As you can see from the tweet above, McGregor wrote “I accept!” Nobody knows if he is speaking directly about the Ferguson fight or if he just agreed with Dee Devlin to have a kebab for dinner. However, the former is more likely. This match-up would definitely be intriguing and would validate his claims for a title fight.

Stylistically it might even be a good fight for McGregor. We saw in the Gaethje bout just how much he hit Ferguson. Credit to El Cucuy because he has a chin of steel. But ‘The Notorious’ is one of the most clinical strikers in MMA. His left hand is like a sniper rifle. This would be very interesting.

Right Time

CNN recently pressed Dana White about McGregor’s potential return. He confirmed that he had spoken to the divisive Irishman but said that they didn’t discuss fighting. Furthermore, he believes that McGregor will return at the right time, but he’s unsure when that will be.

“We’ve talked, in just little spurts, but just about life and family and stuff like that, not about fighting. Conor McGregor is retired.”

However, when pressed he continued: “You never know. You never know. Listen, it makes a lot of sense for him to come back at the right time. I don’t know when the right time is yet.”
