With 2018 finally drawing to a close, now is the perfect time to look back and appreciate with the last 12 months have given us as we rank the top 10 most spectacular finishes of the year in the UFC, from the most brutal knockouts through to the most incredible submissions.
No.10: Justin Gaethje vs. James Vick
The always entertaining Justin Gaethje is known as ‘The Highlight’ for a reason, and with James Vick having won 9 of his previous 10 fights in the UFC, big things were expected from their headlining fight at UFC Fight Night 135 in February.
Unlike Gaethje’s other fights in the UFC beforehand, this didn’t turn out to be a prolonged battle for the ages.
Instead, Gaethje pressured Vick early and backed him up to the cage before uncorking a left hand to the chin followed swiftly by a right that landed hard enough that it appeared for a moment as if his opponent had been forced into an involuntary cartwheel, lurching over to his right-hand side before plummeting head-first onto the canvas unconscious.
