2. Robbie Lawler vs. Rory MacDonald
Lawer’s welterweight title defense against MacDonald at UFC 189 was an infamously brutal and bloody battle. MacDonald’s nose was already a broken mess by the end of the first round and would eventually become so badly damaged that it would cause him trouble for years to come. Not to be outdone, Lawler’s top lip would be torn into two pieces later in the fight.
That led to a classic moment of testosterone-charged machismo at the end of the fourth round when Lawler spat out a crimson spray of blood and then swaggered over to MacDonald for a prolonged post-round staredown. In the final round, it was Lawler who seemed to be feeding off the violent nature of the fight. With one final blow to the nose, Lawler sunk MacDonald to the canvas and earned an unforgettable TKO finish in one of the best MMA fights of all-time.
