Ray Mancini vs. Kim Duk koo
Mancini came in to the WBA lightweight title fight against Duk koo in prime form. ‘Boom Boom’ was more experienced in 15 round fights, and he showed that with conviction against his Korean foe.
Unfortunately the bout ended in tragedy, as Kim was allowed to take far too much punishment, and the brutal 14th round knockout was very tough to see. ‘Hope’ died four days later after the injuries he suffered caused a massive swelling on the brain.
Mancini went in to a deep depression that would take years to recover from, and was never really the same fighter afterwards.
