4. Mirko “Cro Crop” Filipovic vs. Wanderlei “the Axe Murderer” Silva II
These two actually met years earlier at Pride 20 in Crop Crop’s 4th ever MMA bout, and his first ever real challenge. That bout ended in a draw, as it was fought under special rules that involved 3 minute rounds and no judge’s decisions.
By the time they met again in this bout, Cro Crop was a more seasoned mixed martial artist, having been in wars with Fedor, Kevin Randleman, Josh Barnett, Mark Coleman and a host of others.
This fight took place in the semi-finals of PRIDE’s open weight grand prix. Evidently Cro Crop didn’t want to take too much damage in this fight since the finals were held the same evening. He knocked out Silva with a head kick at just over five minutes.
