Phil “CM Punk” Brooks is a big fan of MMA. So much so that when his professional wrestling career ended he wanted to become a fighter.
It should be noted that CM Punk wanted to fight on small shows against inexperienced fighters like him. The problem, however, is that his fame makes doing so difficult. Smaller promoters would be able to exploit his fame for their own financial gain and Dana White wanted to prevent that from happening. So he signed Punk and figured he could give him the same quality bouts in the UFC. Unfortunately, White put him in the cage with Mickey Gall who made CM Punk look stupid and then cry.
