2. Overeem says Miocic tapped

Exactly how Alistair Overeem expected this to play out is unclear, perhaps his mental process was negatively impacted by having been knocked out just moments prior.

When Joe Rogan interviewed Alistair Overeem post-fight at UFC 203, Overeem made the very bizarre move of claiming his opponent tapped. Overeem had dropped Miocic and began to wrench in a guillotine choke at one point in the first round.

It looked like it might have been the end for Miocic but the gritty Cleveland-Croatian got out of it and went on offence (and Overeem went for a run). They showed the replay on the screen and Rogan asked Overeem to point to when exactly he felt Miocic tap but Overeem was unable to find the spot. It was a little uncomfortable.

Rogan would state afterwards that he asked the UFC brass to reconsider post-fight interview with fighters who just got KO’ed. This elimination of these interviews would prevent fighters from saying some pretty stupid things, which can be taken as either a good or bad thing.
