There is a chance that the most-anticipated main event bout of the historic UFC 300 card has been announced already. That’s according to UFC CEO Dana White’s own words, which hinted at the idea.
There are still two fights that are yet to be announced by the promotion, but it is undeniable that many of the bouts already on the card are enticing enough. To recall, the card will feature the bantamweight and UFC debut fight of former PFL fighter Kayla Harrison against veteran Holly Holm. Aside from them, it includes the company’s third BMF fight, which will be between Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway.
According to White in his recent appearance in the Power Slap 6 post-fight press conference, two more bouts will be added to the card. And while many believe that this will be the co-main event and main event of the card, the executive implied that the spot would only be for one regular spot and the co-main event.
“Co-main event and another one,” White said. “We’ve gone through a lot of crazy s*** trying to put this [card] together, so it’s been interested. ASAP is the date [for fight announcements].”
If the executive’s words are what they actually meant, it means the main event of the card was already announced. In that case, there is a huge chance it would either be the Gaethje vs. Holloway or the Harrison vs. Holm.
Of course, this should still be taken with a pinch of salt as other champs and big names in the UFC roster continue to express interest in joining the card. For instance, Dricus Du Plessis is entertaining the idea of a fight against Israel Adesanya, albeit there is a small chance of this happening since the new middleweight champ just had his fight last month. It is also rumored that Tom Aspinall could face Alex Pereira after the latter hinted at a possible appearance at the event.
