Nate Diaz having some fun…
UFC lightweight and welterweight Nate Diaz has experienced a huge upswing in popularity since March 2016. He has Conor McGregor to thank for that, or at least the fact he beat ‘The Notorious’ when they fought at UFC 196.
Is there more than Diaz just defeating the current UFC lightweight champion that has made him such a star? Yes, of course, you can arguably attribute his trash talking and ‘no BS’ type attitude as a greater factor than just a single win in his rise to fame.
Even the rematch with McGregor saw Diaz lose no stock. Fighting through a grueling war that saw both men knocked down, Diaz lost a close but bloody decision on the scorecards. Since UFC 202, Diaz hasn’t fought.
Frequently expressing his interest in a trilogy fight with ‘The Notorious,’ Diaz has reinforced he’ll remain inactive until that call comes. Now that McGregor is returning to MMA, that might not be too long.
You could also argue that 10 years worth of toiling in the mid-tier of the UFC’s pay scale earned Diaz his shot to stardom. Unfortunately, in modern MMA, many fighters work for much longer and retire with empty pockets.
Diaz was born and raised in Stockton, California. The 209 area code covers around 160KM squared, and its renowned for being quite tough in certain areas. This also plays a role in Diaz’s rough exterior we’ve come to know and love.
We all love a rags to riches tale, another reason why Nate Diaz gets so much respect from the mostly working-class UFC fans. We haven’t even delved into his crazy recent fights for the promotion, but already you start to see the picture.
Now a video of a street fight in Stockton, CA has emerged, and it makes Nate Diaz even more of a fan favorite.
What do you get if you put Nate Diaz outside wholefoods in California, a group of rowdy wannabe gangsters and a smartphone? Answer: Nate Diaz hilariously commentating on a street fight happening right in front of him. Diaz uploaded his ‘whole foods street fight’ video to his official Youtube channel.

Diaz Wants $30 Million For Return
“At least $20 million, $30 million,” Diaz’s boxing coach Richard Perez told Submission Radio.
“Come on. UFC’s making a whole lot of money, a whole lot of money and they’re pocketing it. They’re giving more to McGregor, so it’s not fair because it takes two in that ring to draw a crowd — I mean, a good two fighters.”
“It’s just like Mayweather when he fought Berto. It was not even sold out at all. It was embarrassing. It’s because that guy couldn’t draw a crowd.
“See, that’s what I’m saying, it’s the fighters that draw the crowd, and Nathan and McGregor, third one would be outstanding. Everyone knows that. So he needs to get paid at least $30 million easy.”
