Alexander Volkanovski is ready to make a quick turnaround and fight at UFC 300 in April. Even more, “The Great” is more than willing to have a champ vs. champ fight against welterweight champ Leon Edwards.

Volkanovski will be defending his belt against Ilia Topuria at UFC 298 this Saturday. However, there are some doubts about the champ, especially after losing to Islam Makhachev at UFC 294 last October. Nonetheless, the 35-year-old expressed certainty in giving Topuria his first career loss. There are still no details from UFC on what’s next for Volkanovski after this, but the champ is considering joining the UFC 300 card, which still lacks the main-card bout.

“You know 300, UFC 300 might be looking for something too,” Volkanovski said in a recent interview with Michael Bisping. “Eight weeks from the fight, maybe? Yeah, plenty of time.”

Volkanovski was initially hoping for a fight against another featherweight in April. Yet, with no match possible and the event just two months away, Volkanovski won’t say no to a battle against welterweight’s Edwards, whom Bisping suggested.

“100 percent I would, 100 percent,” Volkanovski said. “I’m telling you right now that I’ll do it, obviously, if there’s no injuries and things like that, but yeah, yeah, definitely.”
