Despite losing to his opponent at UFC Fight Night 234, Johnny Walker chose to be classy and congratulated Magomed Ankalaev. And while this snapped his three-fight winning streak, Walker still doesn’t give up his aspiration to reach the top someday.
Walker and Ankalaev met again last weekend to finish their earlier fight that ended with a No Contest status after an illegal knee incident that affected the Brazilian. The recent meeting of the two, however, was immediately concluded by Ankalaev. Despite opening the fight aggressively, Walker was knocked out by the Russian in the second round.
Days after his loss, Walker updated the fans about his status, saying he only sustained a scratch on the nose. As for his defeat, the fighter conceded and showed support for Ankalaev’s plan to secure the belt soon. This, nonetheless, means he has given up hope to do it someday, stating he’ll keep working to reach the top.
“I’m good, just a little scratch on my nose,” Walker said in a recent video he shared. “I’m going to watch my fight and see what mistakes I did later on. … It is what it is. We fight the best in the world. I’m one of the best in the world, and I’m going to face the best in the world. It could be me, could be him. So he had a better night than me, and congratulations to him, Magomed Ankalaev. Hope he gets the belt now and I’m going to keep grinding, keep going forward, and keep going upwards.”
