There are very few people that have not heard of Bob Sapp. He’s fought many times in K-1, Pride FC, DREAM and other well known organizations. Surpisingly he started his career facing some very lite fighters.

In just his third pro mixed martial arts contest ‘The Beast’ faced fighting legend Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria at Pride Shockwave. The former NFL guard actually came close to finishing the fight before being submitted by ‘Big Nog.’

Believe it or not, Sapp’s sheer size and strength once made him quite a formidable foe. He fought and beat kickboxing legend Ernesto Hoost not once but twice under K-1 rules.

But then came the losing streak, swiftly followed by a shameful reputation that would follow Bob Sapp around to this very day. He began losing in some highly suspicious fights, and lots of them.

Dating back to 2011, Sapp has lost his last 12 MMA fights, and all by first round stoppage. He had last fought in 2013 with a submission loss to Edson Franca in Brazil. Finally, we all thought, the career of Bob Sapp was over.

But Bob Sapp came out of retirement last night (Saturday July 2, 2016) facing Sumo wrestler Aori Gele at Road FC 32. The fight has sparked controversy due to the nature of the finish.
