He Beat an Egyptian Sumo Wrestler… This Article Includes The Most Epic Round of MMA You Will Ever Watch in Your Life… You’re Welcome…
Bob Sapp… what do we even say about this ‘legend’ of mixed martial arts? In a week where Conor McGregor is set to take on Khabib Nurmagamedov, Sapp’s epic return to the win column has been tragically overlooked by the mainstream media.
Sapp has finally managed to get another win under his belt. The 45-year old hadn’t fought in a cage since 2016. Sure he got a win under SHOOT boxing rules in 2015, but his epic losing streak in MMA stretched back 14 fights. Even though his record is absolutely horrendous he’s still got good entertainment value.
Somehow he still manages to fight for big promotions. This weekend he was in Japan, fighting in Tokyo’s hallowed Saitama Super Arena. He took on Egyptian sumo wrestler – yes you read that right – Osunaarashi, to finally get his hand held high. Watch below one of the most epically bad rounds of MMA you’ll ever watch. It’s magnificently terrible.
Incredible
This really has to be seen to be believed. It’s like a super-charged version of Kimbo Slice v Dada 5000 but with actual action. Sapp started in trademark style as Osunaarashi waddled forward trying to knock him out. Sapp managed to survive with incredible defense – turning around and wobbling away.
In the second Sapp was able to gain some control, landing some strikes to slow down his opponent. But because he’s equally huge, it also slowed him down as they began to gas out. He managed to take down the Egyptian fighter but wasn’t able to do anything much more. But the best was yet to come in what turned into an incredibly memorable event.

Epic Round
These two 300 lb monsters came charging out baying for blood. Or maybe that was the plan because the pair of them were totally gassed out. They could do almost nothing except waddle in circles. The poor hapless referee issued them both yellow cards for inactivity, but Sapp was able to put the pressure on just a bit more and did enough to claim the round.
It was truly hilariously epic and the crowd absolutely loved it. There were definite memories of Dada 5000 v Kimbo Slice, but with maybe slightly fewer heart attacks and a bit more action. You’ve just got to love it.

Decent Card
Take nothing away from RIZIN 13 though. They had some great fighters on the card at the weekend, with UFC legend Mirko Cro-Cop winning by first-round obliteration. The main event was without a doubt the best fight of the night as striking prodigy Tenshin Nasukawa fought MMA fighter Kyoji Horiguchi under kickboxing rules.
The fight was in honor of the legendary Kid Yamamoto, and both men gave it everything they had. Tenshin would win, with some absolutely spectacular kicks and strikes, but Horiguchi gave it his all and hit hard. It was a phenomenal fight with some amazing highlight reel moments.
With spectacular entrances (check out Andy Nguyen’s Michael Jackson tribute) and a mixture of freak fights and superstar talent, RIZIN looks like they’re trying to take over the PRIDE mantle…
