Charles Oliveira’s Fighting Preparations Just Took an Interesting Twist… He Spars Two Opponents at The Same Time And Holds His Own…

I don’t think we’ll be seeing this happen too soon in the UFC, which is a pity. Charles Oliveira’s gym, Academia Chute Boxe, decided that they’d use an unorthodox method to prepare their top fighters for the pressure that they’d face in a real Octagon – by making them fight two opponents at the same time.

Oliveira is just coming off the back of a submission win over Clay Guida at UFC 225. He’s been on the books of the world’s biggest MMA promotion for 8 years. The 28-year old has fought 32 times in his professional career, picking up 23 wins. 11 of those have come in the UFC’s featherweight and lightweight divisions.

Perhaps his most dubious statistic is the fact that he’s missed weight a total of five times in the UFC. Considering he started his career at welterweight, he really shouldn’t be surprised. He’s set to make his comeback in Sao Paulo, and as you can see below, he’s getting ready.

Be Prepared

As you can see above, Oliveira demonstrates slick movement as he manages to hold his own against two tough opponents, who aren’t exactly hitting him lightly. He responds in kind. Nicknamed “Do Bronx”, he explained to MMA Fighting what they were trying to achieve.

“We’re always putting ourselves in bad situations so we can put on great fights. If I can do well with someone in my back or brawling two guys at the same time, imagine when it’s only one. This is Chute Boxe-style,” he said. “Chute Boxe is the biggest team in the world and I fear f***ing nothing.”

The only thing he fears is a weighing scale.

Get Ready

In all fairness to Oliveira, he’s taken his latest fight on four weeks notice, so that deserves some respect. He’s set to take on Christos Giagos in his native Brazil, which is motivating to perform well and put on a show for his local audience. He made it clear that he believes that he can achieve great things with this team. He said:

“Chute Boxe is the biggest team in the world and I fear f***ing nothing. I walk straight forward. If they put someone in there against me, brother, it’s going to be a war and I’m going for the win.”

Fight Night

UFC Fight Night 137 goes down in Sao Paulo on September 22nd. Brazilian light-Heavyweight Thiago Santo will take on the UK’s Jimi Manuwa in the main event.

Meanwhile, the likes of Alex ‘Cowboy’ Oliveira, Sam Alvey, and Randa Markos are all set to fight on the night. It should be a solid night’s action!
