Chris Weidman is BACK in a big way…

Heading in to last night’s UFC on FOX 25 card, all eyes were on the main event. Former middleweight champion Chris Weidman faced Kelvin Gastelum, and there was a lot at stake for both men.

Returning from a six-month suspension for marijuana, ‘Mini Cain’ wanted to hand Weidman his fourth straight loss. ‘The All-American’ needed a win badly, as potential retirement and/or being cut laid ahead.

From the jump it was all Gastelum, and it looked like an early knockdown might score the returning ‘KG’ a big win…

Weidman Came Back From Behind…

After being put on his butt in the early goings, Weidman took a no-nonsense approach. Having been knocked out by Gegard Mousasi, Luke Rockhold and Yoel Romero recently, Weidman had some tweaks to make.

Coming in to the third frame, it was do or die time for ‘The All-American.’ Here’s the full fight video, watch for yourself:

So a massive and much needed win for Weidman, who breaks a losing streak dating back to 2015. Although he defeated Vitor Belfort in March, that win was overturned and now Gastelum is without a win since 2016.

Weidman’s ability to survive the knockdown and come back to victory showed echoes of his championship days. What’s next? Well, ‘The All-American’ had a pretty epic message for the champ Michael Bisping:

Weidman Calls Out ‘British Bum’ Michael Bisping

“That British bum who is crying in his freaking house right now: I’m back, baby,” Weidman said. “I’m back. What’s up? Stop hiding from the real men. Let’s go, baby. I’m the champ and everyone knows it.”
