Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman fought Yoel Romero in New York City tonight. During a stacked event, hometown fans awaited Weidman’s homecoming, but it did not end well for ‘The All American.’

Weidman had suffered the first loss of his career at UFC 194 against Luke Rockhold. Returning to face the fierce and highly dangerous ‘Soldier of God,’ the New York native actually won most of the fight.

Undefeated in the UFC so far, Yoel Romero wanted to make it eight straight at UFC 205. Unfortunately for Chris Weidman and his partisan crowd, ‘Soldier of God’ scored a brutal knockout.

Watch as Romero rocks Weidman with a monster knee and opens a giant cut on the forehead:

Weidman Loses Two Straight

What’s next for Chris Weidman after his second and perhaps most crushing loss? Twice in a row the former champion has ended in a crumpled, bloody mess on the UFC canvas. For Romero, surely it’s time for a title shot?

Current middleweight boss Michael Bisping was in attendance, and he recently stated he would not fight Romero if he won. ‘Soldier of God’ recently failed a USADA drug test before being cleared after citing a tainted supplement.
