UFC 216 was packed with explosive finishes and crazy wars, but nobody came close to the level of greatness that Demetrious Johnson displayed…
Once again returning to their home soil, the UFC put on a great show after a week of turmoil in Las Vegas, Nevada. Offering two title fights and some great matchups, UFC 216 exploded. From top to bottom, the fighters gave it their all in a great night of wild fights.
Featured in the co-main event, although it should have been the main, was flyweight champion, Demetrious Johnson. ‘Mighty Mouse’ was hoping to break Anderson Silva’s hallowed title defense record.
Since joining the flyweight division in 2012, Johnson has blasted through the division. Equalling Silva’s famed 10 straight title defenses with his latest submission win over Wilson Reis, ‘Mighty Mouse’ only needed one more victory to surpass ‘The Spider’ in the record books.
Standing in the way of that record was Ray Borg, as Johnson has essentially smashed everyone else at 125 pounds. Fans were expecting a big win out of DJ, especially now he’s making some pay-per-view points on his contract.

Johnson Delivers a Crazy Finish
Borg, for his great efforts, was still nowhere near ready to face Johnson. It showed in the final round, as ‘Mighty Mouse’ proved why he’s the number one pound-for-pound champion on the planet.
As he lifted Borg up for a monster slam, Johnson somehow managed to catch his prey in a mid-air armbar. Watch the incredibly satisfying, record-breaking submission below:

After all the drama with UFC president Dana White recently, Johnson sent an unquestionable message out. He is the greatest, regardless of how many PPV’s get sold off his back, he just shattered the record that nobody thought could be broken.
Needless to say, Johnson’s finish has gone insanely viral across multiple platforms. Catching his opponent mid-slam and then locking in an air-tight armbar is seriously something unique and special.
